Did WrestleMania 32 Prove WWE Is Out Of Touch With The Fans?

The League of Nations went over because I have no idea. Other than giving WWE an excuse to wheel out the old-timers after the match, there seemed to be no logic attached to the deeply unpopular and not-at-all-over LON winning. New Day are one of the hottest acts in the company, whilst LON are afforded the same sort of heat that Roman Reigns faces on a weekly basis. They are not, absolutely not, the modern incarnation of the Four Horsemen that JBL routinely claims. Every time he utters those imbecilic lines his already wafer-thin credibility is shattered further.

The post-match was admittedly fun though, and I got a kick out of the fact that Shawn Michaels was in his ring gear (yes, so was Foley, but his ring gear is also his everyday wear), but Michael Cole bleating about them being there for a match was pushing it. It still beats the way WWE usually use their legends (none of them mentioned the Network or Susan G. Coman, pleasingly), though it was a flashpoint moment that didn€™t give New Day anywhere near the rub it was designed to.

I was left underwhelmed by Brock Lesnar vs. Dean Ambrose. I fully expected Ambrose to be left in a pool of his own blood, missing body parts because Brock Lesnar took control of his chainsaw and lopped his limbs off for fun. Instead there were a bunch of suplexes, some weak chair shots from Ambrose, and a clean victory for Lesnar that elevated him none and harmed Ambrose to the point where he can never be anything more than an upper mid carder.

On the big stage, Ambrose loses. Fans are conditioned to expect that now. He is the Lex Luger of the 2010s. I don€™t think he should have beaten Lesnar, but a finish more akin to the Bret Hart-Steve Austin match at WrestleMania 13 where Ambrose refused to die would have been preferable to him meekly losing. Ambrose is one of the most over babyfaces in the company, but his name is not Roman Reigns so it matters not to those in charge. They have really missed the boat on a man many were once pegging as the modern-day Steve Austin. That seems like a bad joke now.
