SmackDown’s women have had the short end of the stick for the past few weeks. The build for their WrestleMania match felt incredibly lazy, and they were given just six minutes to impress on the show itself. They made great use of their time, however, and while chaotic, the six-way bout turned out to be an exciting little sprint.

The big story revolved around Naomi, who was forced to vacate her SmackDown Women’s Championship through injury after winning it at the Royal Rumble. Having recently returned on weekly television, WM33 staged her official in-ring comeback, and she scored what will surely go down as the most memorable moment of her young wrestling career thus far.

Competing in front of her hometown crowd, Naomi survived as bodies fell around her, and forced champion Alexa Bliss to tap for the victory. A rare hometown win in a company that loves making wrestlers lose in such scenarios, and a genuine feelgood moment. The night’s bigger talking points will likely eclipse Naomi’s win, but after a month of complete nothingness in the SD women’s division, this outcome was exactly what needed to happen.
