WrestleMania 38 Announcement Fuels WWE Brand Split Rumours

WWE might've just spilled beans on the end of their long-running brand split.

Rumours are intensifying that WWE will end the current brand split between Raw and SmackDown after WrestleMania 38.

This stems from some interesting wording used to preview the 'Champion vs. Champion' clash between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns this April. WWE's official website now states that the match will be "winner take all" - what's more, the preview blurb says it's a "highly anticipated Championship Unification match on WrestleMania Sunday".

Note the word, "Unification".

This implies that both the WWE and Universal belts will become one after 'Mania's second night. Going forwards, that would also mean that there'd only be one World Champion knocking about on Monday and Friday nights.

Some fans don't think WWE would make that decision unless they're ready to end the brand split and amalgamate the Raw and SmackDown rosters again.

It is possible that this will be changed again. Keep an eye on those WrestleMania preview pages, because there's a chance they'll be updated again soon if Vince McMahon changes his mind on the "unification" gimmick.

WWE's current brand split has been running since 2016. The company holds an annual Draft to decide who wrestles where.
