Cody Rhodes appears set to challenge for Roman Reigns' Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 39, though this may end up changing based on crowd reactions.

Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that as of the middle of last week, WWE did not plan on booking Reigns opposite Sami Zayn at 'Mania. This could change, depending on where the audience reactions go, though Reigns/Zayn wasn't on deck as of last Wednesday or Thursday.

Meltzer added that if WWE were going to change direction, they would likey do so before tonight's episode of Raw.

In the latest Wrestling Observer/Figure Four Online Daily Update column, Meltzer wrote that Zayn vs. Reigns for Elimination Chamber 2023 (18 February) is "as confirmed as it can be."

Rhodes earned the right to challenge Reigns at WrestleMania 39 by triumphing in this year's men's Royal Rumble over the weekend. There is a clamour for Sami to take the main event slot in Hollywood, however, given his overwhelming popularity and the universal acclaim that the Bloodline storyline is drawing at the moment. Zayn turned on Roman at the Royal Rumble, drawing an earsplitting pop in the process.
