Wrestlers With The Most World Titles (Across All Major Federations)
38. Randy Savage (6)
4 WCW Championships
2 WWE Championships
If Randy Savage had wrestled in a two-world-titles period of WWE, you can bet he would have been the face of one of the brands (the lesser one in all likelihood), with Hulk Hogan ruling over the other. It's not that common for a wrestler to be both extremely versed in the ring and so naturally charismatic in the promo booth, and he was pushed as close to the top as one could get in the Hogan era.
Paradoxically, while Savage is best remembered for his time in WWE, it's his two-parted stint in WCW that earns him a spot here. But while they brought him some honours, his runs in WWE's rival promotion were actually made of one-day title reigns, weird storylines and once more being in the shadow of Hulk Hogan.
These days, it looks like the 'Macho Man' (a bit like his legendary rival Ricky Steamboat) has become something of a wrestler's wrestler. The late Hall of Famer doesn't seem to catch the imagination of modern fans like he once did, with other past glories getting much more retrospective admiration. It's a shame though, as if you judge him by what his peers have to say, he really was one of the very best.
