Wrestling's 10 Greatest Kay-Baes
2. Chyna
Chyna is the often-overlooked component of the initial DX trio. Although, she embodied a classic enforcer role, a woman cast as such was a revolution. DX was key to Chyna’s development, but in leaving the group she continued her rise, until backstage politics grounded her.
One of Chyna’s career highlights was as Eddie Guerrero’s “Mamacita”. The kayfabe relationship allowed her to showcase a more traditionally feminine side. Guerrero greatly benefited, transitioning from his role in The Radicalz to solo success.
The two came together on the Raw following WrestleMania 2000, Chyna turned on her ally and former co-Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho. She helped Guerrero become the new European Champion, his first title reign in WWE. The relationship also spawned the classic “Latino Heat” tagline to explain Guerrero’s charisma and magnetism. The pair were initially heels but underwent an organic babyface turn, becoming fan favourites.
Guerrero used Chyna’s success to cheat himself to the Intercontinental Championship. She forgave him and uneasily stood by as he retained the belt by any means necessary. However, she couldn’t make excuses when she caught him in the shower with two of Godfather’s hoes.
