https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzb9wo-9VIM When Edge first joined the WWF, the company immediately saw something in him. To hype his debut they shot footage of him walking around the streets of what appeared to be New York City, and generally acting kind of emo. Well, except for the fact that he would sometimes attack random people. Good thing no one turned in those videos to the police! Anyway, as he was exploring the city, we could hear a woman's voiceover. She told us that the mysterious Edge is "nothing" he's "everything" and he's "everywhere." Sure, the dialogue didn't make a lot of sense, but the videos contained fast cuts and cool imagery . They were so good that the words didn't matter. Fun fact: some of the audio clips from his original vignettes would be used for his future theme songs, specifically the line "you think you know me." With these videos of Edge, we didn't know exactly what we were getting, we just knew it was going to be good. And for the next 16 years, he was able to live up to, and exceed, the hype set before his arrival.
As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at."
Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week.
