http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdDyQ1Qxtvg "Send us someone, just don't send us anyone you want back." Luke Harper. Whoever directed the Wyatt Family videos deserves a raise. Heck, give them a new job as head of creative. While many characters feel behind the times, or from another era (Damien Sandow, Los Matadores) sometimes WWE proves they can still create a compelling act from time to time. In the summer of 2013, WWE began airing vignettes of the disturbing Wyatt Family. We were introduced to Bray, the unstable cult leader and two of his sheep: Erick Rowan and Luke Harper. All of the effective imagery was there: creepy dolls, a cemetery, and a rocking chair which rocked itself, but it wouldn't have meant anything if Bray wasn't convincing in his role. And from just the first few seconds of watching him on TV, we knew he was good. Husky Harris was officially dead. Long live Bray Wyatt! The videos helped build up anticipation for the act, and they deservedly received a big pop when they finally debuted on TV. While many acts don't live up to the hype their videos set, the Wyatt Family has so far exceeded the brilliant work done to promote their arrival.
As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at."
Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week.
