2. The Teddy Long Special
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5aVOoLWF_Q
Time Period: SmackDown shows during 2004-08 and 2009-12, ECW shows during 2008-09, any WWE show Long appeared on during 2004-13.
Rules: Drink whenever Long makes an impromptu tag team match or he puts someone in a match against Sheamus or Randy Orton. Bonus drink for every overly dramatic pause. Hardcore rule: also drink for every use of words "playa", "holla" and "dog". "If you guys wanna go at it, we're gonna do it right." For years Theodore Long served as General Manager to SmackDown (and briefly ECW) in what devolved into something akin to Groundhog Day. As time went on Long became almost a spoof of an authority figure, interrupting any disagreements or brawls between four or more superstars to book them into a tag team match. His only variance on the rule was when he would interrupt one superstar. The action he would take against them was to punish them by placing them in a match against what seemed like his own personal APA in Randy Orton or Sheamus. To make things even more like a spoof, he would always make the predictable announcements in the most dramatic way possible. Complete with lengthy pauses as if setting up a surprise for the audience. These announcements turned him into somewhat of a cult figure thanks to fans ironic enjoyment of his interruptions.
Worst Offenders: SmackDown (10/07/11), pretty much any show he was in charge of
1. Social Media Is Mentioned
Time Period: 2011 onwards
Rule: Drink every time that social media is mentioned either verbally or visually. Twice if it is either a WWE App downloading tutorial or if the social media is Tout. Hardcore bonus rule: Include wrestler's Twitter tags during their entrance or future match promotion screen. The big one. WWE loves to force feed viewers with social media, and so in turn they can force you to drink instead. Whether it be a commentator mentioning social media or the 'Trending now' bar appearing at the bottom of the screen, social media is so heavily incorporated in the current product that it has created storylines (Batista and Alberto Del Rio's rivalry). Most 'Did You Know?' fact screens now focus on WWE's social media presence as well. Not to mention WWE's attempt to own a sector of social media with their heavy investment in the failed Tout platform that they promoted very heavily until giving up on it. WWE even hold polls on the WWE app to choose things such as opponents and match stipulations.
Worst Offenders: Josh Mathews, 'Did You Know?' flashcards, Michael Cole, Zack Ryder, JBL, WWE App polls and instruction videos, Tout
