Shawn was withered and beaten. While Davey looked weary himself, he still had more strength in the reserve. Davey began to attack Shawn, setting him up along the ropes and then clotheslining the destined champion to the outside. Everyone including Davey had assumed his victory, even to the point his music began to echo throughout the Sun Dome. But mere seconds later his joy turned to shock as only one of Shawn's feet had touched the floor, Shawn was able to re-enter the ring and eliminate Davey while his back was turned. Although others have done it since, Davey and Shawn's coast to coast appearance in the 95 Rumble will always be a historic part of the Royal Rumble legacy. Shawn's propensity for hanging on by the skin of his teeth was only rivalled by that of Rick Martel.
