WWE: 10 Best Moments At Madison Square Garden

1. Wrestlemania 1, 10 and 20

wrestlemania It was never going to be anything but. To be honest, any one of the events mentioned here could be an individual entry, but the majesty of wrestling's Superbowl deserves to be spoken of in its own right as an entity. So instead, here's a list of things that happened at each Wrestlemania... Wrestlemania 1: The first Wrestlemania ever, the biggest wrestling showcase of it's kind in the entire world. WWE's first ever stipulation match takes place in the form of the Body Slam Challenge, in which Andre The Giant bodyslammed Big John Studd to win $15,000. Hulk Hogan teamed up with Mr T for the first time to take on Roddy Piper and Paul Orndorff, with Muhammad Ali as the special referee. Wrestlemania 10: Bret Hart pulls double duty, winning his second WWF Championship from Yokozuna as well as opening the show in a match against his brother Owen in what was described as the best opening match in pay-per-view history. Yokozuna also pulls double duty by wrestling Luger first and retaining, becoming the first heel WWF Champion to retain at Wrestlemania. Randy Savage would compete at a WWF pay-per-view for the last time before leaving for WCW. Arguably the most influential ladder match of all time took place between Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon for the Intercontinental Title. Howard Finkel wore a toupee. Wrestlemania 20: John Cena, Goldberg and the United States Title all make their Wrestlemania debuts. The first Wrestlemania to feature "interpromotional" matches between superstars from different brands. The Rock N' Sock Connection reform. Last Wrestlemania appearance of The Dudley Boyz. Last time the Cruiserweight Title was defended at Wrestlemania. The Undertaker returns under his Deadman gimmick, beating Kane to make The Streak 12-0. Chris Benoit wins his one and only World Heavyweight Championship. Show closes with Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero holding their title belts aloft as confetti rains down. That is a lot of Madison Square Garden memories. It's a shame that WWE has broke from tradition this year by holding Wrestlemania 30 in New Orleans as opposed to New York, but in terms of everything that's going to go wrong with that Wrestlemania, the choice of venue is a fairly minor one. So there you have it, my selection of WWE's best moments at Madison Square Garden. What are your favourites? Let me know in the comments!
