Podcasting is far from new; it's even considered an official word (a noun AND a verb!) in the Merriam-Webster's Dictionary. But in the last year or so, the number of celebrities jumping on the podcast bandwagon has skyrocketed. Podcasts require less overhead, relative to other means of putting oneself out there. And podcasts are accessible. Austin refers to his program as "on-demand audio for the working man", likely because he characterizes his interests and vocabulary as down-to-earth and unapologetic. And there is no need for apology, at least in this listener's mind, as Steve Austin has an endearing way with words and an ease on the microphone that should surprise no one. He says his studio is at 316 Gimmick Street, a fun nod to his pro wrestling roots and indicative of the tongue-in-cheek humour you'll find on his podcasts. The tone of his shows is both casual (like you're sitting in on a warm chat between friends over cans of diet Red Bull), and intense (like when he gets excited or incensed about a topic, opening up a can of audio whoop-ass instead).
