9. Shawn Michaels On Bret Hart's "Sunny Days"
The 90's version of Shawn Michaels loved nothing more than stirring controversy. A stinging shoot comment worked into HBK's promos was a regular occurrence, and by his own account he genuinely enjoyed pi**ing people off. The result was some of the most engaging WWF television in years, with many fans getting off on the real personal edge in Michaels and Hart's feud. Shawn was working these shoot comments in with Vince's blessing, but in 1997 he arguably took it way too far with a deeply personal comment that had implications for Bret's family life. Following a Bret diatribe, Shawn turned up on Raw's titantron. Right away he got to making comments he knew would infuriate Bret, including referencing beating Hart at the previous years Wrestlemania. Michaels went on to question Bret as a man and made fun of Bret's sexual performance, a comment sure to anger the Canadian who felt WWF should be a family product. The killer line came when HBK added to comments about Bret not being able to go 10 minutes that this was "even though he had enjoyed some Sunny days." Right away Bret's face dropped. Shawn implying Bret was having an affair with WWF diva Sunny was a deeply personal barb. Shortly after this a huge backstage fight occurred between the two warring stars, and the worked shoot boiled over into a real shoot fight. Regardless of the questionable morality, the "sunny days" comment still stands as one of the best worked shoots of all time, adding even more personal rivalry to the Hart-Michaels feud. Their eventual Survivor Series 97 match was an unmissable PPV buy for many, the real life heat a driving force for buys.
