WWE: 10 Big Stars In Worthless WrestleMania Matches
5. Chris Jericho vs. Fandango - WrestleMania 29
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KX44UvKchaQ At the time, it looked like Chris Jericho battling Chris Jericho at WrestleMania 29 was a good opportunity for Y2J to help create a new star. When WrestleMania XXX rolled around, it looks like the match was just a waste of Jericho's time. At the event, Fandango defeated Jericho fairly. It was a solid way to start the young heel's WWE career. Over the next few months, we saw him become a popular mid-card act, but then he quickly slid down the card for no tangible reason. Currently, he's feuding with Santino in a match that barely belongs on Main Event. Jericho has had some big Mania matches in the past against Shawn Michaels, CM Punk and was even in the main event of WrestleMania 19. He's one of the top 10 stars of his generation, and he can definitely give a rub to a younger wrestler if used correctly. So in theory, booking him against Fandango made sense, but the follow up was lacking. Whatever Fandango gained from his victory of Jericho is long gone. Now the next time Jericho comes back, he'll mean a little less than before. It's doubtful that WWE will even bring it up or have them face off in a rematch. Hopefully the next opponent WWE chooses for him to put over they will actually go all the way with them, or it will end up being just as worthless.
As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at."
Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week.
