WWE: 10 Big Stars In Worthless WrestleMania Matches

4. Jerry Lawler vs. Michael Cole - WrestleMania 27

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msKrlbyN7UY WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler is one of the biggest draws in the history of professional wrestling. And despite being almost consistently employed by WWE for over 20 years, he only has one WrestleMania match to his credit. And his opponent? Why none other than his broadcast partner Michael Cole. And the match was worthless. Absolutely worthless. Having a heel for a lead announcer is not a good idea. They're supposed to be the voice of reason, and rally the fans around the babyfaces and point out the heinous action from the heels. But none other than Cole was turned heel by Vince McMahon, and while it was fun for some time, it soon became tiring. Every week Cole became more and more overbearing. Somebody had to shut him up, and Jerry was the man to do it. We saw the showdown between announcer No. 1 and announcer No. 2 at WrestleMania XVII with Jim Ross at Lawler's side and Jack Swagger by Cole's. Stone Cold even showed up to referee, which meant it was a big deal. Well, it ended up being a big waste of time. The match itself lasted almost 14 minutes. That was longer than the World Heavyweight Title match on the show! It shouldn't have lasted more than a minute tops, but it just kept going and going. It was embarrassing for everyone involved, and hopefully was a lesson to WWE creative to never book another announcer vs. announcer feud again.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
