WWE: 10 Biggest Flops In History

8. Rikishi Revealed As The Mystery Driver

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5bhLVGn2x0 Picture the scene - it's 1999. Steve Austin, the hottest wrestler in the WWF is injured and can't wrestle in the scheduled main event of Survivor Series. Do you tell the fans and risk less PPV buys? Since when are promoters 100% honest? So, that's a no. Do you write him out on the Raw the week before, allowing time for the fans to buy into hi replacement in the triple threat match? No, that would also risk the buy rate, so we'll keep on promoting him for the match even though he isn't going to be doing it. I know what we can do! We can have him run down by a car backstage during the event - after the fans have paid for the PPV - and then replace him. not with the then up-and-coming babyface Test (a story for another time) but with Big Show. This will make for intriguing television..... Some fans were into the storyline - until long time mid-carder Rikishi was revealed as the driver. Rikishi? Really? Although the reasons to create the storyline were out of WWF's control - Austin was injured - at least they could have used it to promote the next big thing looking for a shot. Instead it was Rikishi. Even worse, he was later shown to have just been a pawn of HHH's. It was a colossal waste of everyone's time.
