WWE: 10 Biggest Flops In History

9. The WBF

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AbsRtuoIDSc The first time I became aware of the WBF was when I saw Lex Luger being interviewed at WrestleMania VIII. I knew from magazines in 1992 that he had been in WCW, so why was he in the WBF? Long story short - a no-compete clause. But I set about finding out what the WBF was. Anyone who knows anything about Vince McMahon knows that he is a fan of big, muscular wrestlers. But as with so many things, he felt the need to prove himself as more than just a wrestling promoter. So he founded the WBF to compete with the IFBB.. He tried everything to make it successful -Regis Philbin co-hosting the first event, Bobby Heenan commentating, giving each bodybuilder a 'persona' - but to no avail. It lasted less than 18 months from its original inception, folding in July 1992. What could have been done to make it better? Not doing it in he first place. Had Vince concentrated more on his in-ring product then we wouldn't have been left with the dark days of the early 1990's WWF.

I am a teacher, but also write about all things wrestling. I have been writing/interviewing wrestling personalities for over 7 years for both the Wrestling Observer site, as well as The History Of WWE site.
