7. Jimmy Snuka Splash Off The Steel Cage (Oct 17, 1983)
"20,000 plus going bananas here in Madison Square Garden!" - Gorilla Monsoon I was only 2 years old when Jimmy Snuka jumped off a steel cage at MSG in 1983, but I know about the moment thanks to Mick Foley. If you've read Foley's first book or heard him talk about what made him a wrestling fan, it was sitting in the crowd a Snuka hit Don Murcao with a Superfly Splash off the steel cage. A move like that was unheard of in 1983. Nobody did stuff like that. It was too risky at that time. The big spots like that didn't become a regular thing until 15-20 years later when a lot of people started doing it. Growing up, my two favorite babyface wrestlers were Randy Savage and Jimmy Snuka. It was because of their top rope finishers. Savage had the flying elbow off the top while Superfly had the the splash. What was cool about the Superfly Splash is that he always seemed to hit it perfectly. This one was no exception. Listen to the crowd reaction too. They knew it was a special moment. Here we are over 30 years later and it's still as special as it was back then.
