WWE: 10 Biggest Stories This Week

3. Mae Young Off Life Support

divas title The saddest news of this week is the reported grave illness of veteran womens wrestler Mae Young. She is an absolute legend in the industry, as tough as nails and always game for an angle. The first lady of wrestling got her career underway in 1939 and was appearing for the WWE as recently as 2003. That is some longevity right there, an amazing dedication to her industry. Her willing to always do what is best for business seen her getting involved in bikini contests in her 70's and taking bumps off the stage despite being a pensioner. She was hugely liked and respected. She has been ill for some time and is now reportedly off life support. Mike Monneyham, the respected wrestling journalist, did erroneously report she died Thursday aged 90 - but it has now been confirmed Mae is still alive but close to death. It is a sad story but at the age of 90 and with a long respect filled career it is also a time for inspiration.
