2. Jake Roberts Back In The WWE Family
Recovering alcoholic and drug addict Jake "The Snake" Roberts has enjoyed considerable encouragement in the last year. He has been part of Diamond Dallas Page's 'Accountability Crib' and DDP Yoga program. Willed on by enthusiastic fans, Jake has been lobbying for a WWE return to be the ultimate step in his recovery, the achievement he needs to restore his pride. Fans had demanded the WWE make this happen at the Royal Rumble, but on Monday night at Old School Raw they got a pleasant surprise - Jake the snake is back. In truth it was a tepid reaction when he came out on Raw. Many younger fans probably have no idea who he is. It is however a welcome return to the WWE family of one of their best ever characters. He will most likely go on to appear in the Rumble, probably nailing his legendary DDT at some point for the pop. The real hope should be that Roberts can stay clean. Many small promoters in the industry are still owed money and have been severely damaged by Jake's no-shows at the height of his problems. This is a man who took good money and would then show up to work "in no condition to perform" if at all. For some in the industry, Roberts selfishness will never be forgiven. He remains a controversial figure.
