5. A Break In The Shield
Notice how the title doesnt imply a breakup, but just some fracturing. This seems to be where the Shield is headed. Right now, fan response is positive, and theyre in a Wrestlemania match against heels in Kane and the New Age Outlaws. The Shield have developed nicely from straight-heels to something more resembling antiheroes. This is something the WWE needs more of. A lot more. The Shield has benefitted from good character development along the way, and every member is on the verge of breaking out, especially Rollins and Reigns. To break them up now while theyre skyrocketing in popularity doesnt make much sense. Instead, look for this to be a slow-developing plotline to follow. Remember when they were on the brink of dissolving? Only that didnt happen. The WWE realized that they could hold off on breaking up the Shield in lieu of better character development. They solidified the trio and turned them into antiheroes. It worked. Dont expect it to change anytime soon, but do expect there to be trouble in paradise in the months that follow Wrestlemania. A full breakup is inevitable, but it wont happen for a while.
