WWE: 10 Bloodiest WrestleMania Matches Ever

6. Bret Hart vs. Stone Cold - WrestleMania 13

This submission match between two Hall of Famers may not be the bloodiest contest in the history of WrestleMania, but there is very little doubting that it is the match for which blood played the biggest role. The image of Stone Cold screaming in agony in the Sharpshooter while a bloody mess is one of the most recognisable in WWE's history. Austin's feud with Bret came off the back of his King of the Ring success that began his path towards the main event but even in defeat it was this match that made him a superstar. Bret defeating Austin in a number one contenders match at Survivor Series made Stone Cold's goal to cause problems for the Hitman. The two would eventually meet again one-on-one in a literally career defining contest at WrestleMania 13 that saw Austin cut open and eventually passing out to blood loss while in the clutches of the Sharpshooter. After the match was over a rare double switch happened as Hart continued the assault on the helpless Rattlesnake. Despite this Austin refused any help to make his way to the back as the crowd chanted his name. The blood that stemmed down the face of the man who entered the event as the heel personified his will to continue and inability to quit and won over the Chicago crowd to solidify him as the WWE's future top man.
