WWE: The 10 Craziest Jim Ross Reactions To Amazing Spectacles

1. The Cell Match That Changed Everything

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gALgjYKo3ig Just watching this video package leading up to this match, one can already tell that it is going to have a dramatic finish. It's Mick ready to show the world that you don't have to be a conventional Superstar to make an impact. It's The Undertaker in the darkest era of his career: wrestling in the first-ever Hell In A Cell match and then a Casket match against Shawn Michaels, and an Inferno match against Kane. When Mankind and Taker faced off €“ in the cell €“ at King of the Ring 1998, the bar had already been raised for extreme antics. The match starts off on top of the cell! This sets the tone for what to expect. "There's nothing between The Undertaker and concrete floor... except imagination!" chirps Ross with chilling accuracy. After trading blows on top of the rickety fencing that is the top of the cell, The Undertaker shocks everyone by suddenly tossing Mankind from the roof down onto the announce table. Watching it this time, I knew it was going to happen, but it STILL took my breath away. As it did for JR: "MY GOD ALMIGHTY! MY GOD ALMIGHTY! THAT KILLED HIM!" The fans' reaction in the Pittsburgh Civic Arena is deafening. Everyone is on their feet, and the sound is like a unified screaming roar. "As god is my witness, he is broken in half!" proclaims Jim Ross. "Somebody get out here really, I mean it..." They show the replay over and over, each time from a more grisly angle. A huge group of medical personnel surround Foley on the floor. Terry Funk is out there. Vince McMahon is out there. They raise the cage, with Taker still on top, so that the stretcher full of Foley can exit the ring area. JR is making his apologies to the fans for this match being so unexpectedly short, when he is cut short by the sight of Foley getting up off the stretcher. "How in the hell is he still standing? He's got a smile on his face, for God's sake!" Both wrestlers climb to the top of the cage once more. "This is absolutely amazing, here." And before you can catch your breath again, The Undertaker choke slams Mankind through the roof of the cell, down into the ring far below. "GOOD GOD! SOMEBODY STOP THE DAMN MATCH! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! THE POOR SONOFA €“ HE'S BROKEN IN HALF, AND THE UNDERTAKER LIKES IT!" Support staff fill the ring to tend to Foley, who again rises to meet The Undertaker's blows. "He's the toughest S.O.B. I've ever seen," says Ross. "There's shoes, there's caps, there's a cage hanging..." JR uses his words to create such a clear picture of this chaos. No one can deny the spectacle of this moment, in itself. But having Jim Ross at ringside, and reacting to what has happened, is the perfect way to represent how we all felt watching this match. "These two men gave you everything in their body, everything in their souls tonight"
