WWE: 10 Failed Attempts At Re-Creating WrestleMania Magic

2. Bret Hart vs. Yokozuna (WrestleMania 10)

When Yokozuna first made his presence in WWE, he was an unstoppable monster. Everyone fell before his banzai drop, and with Mr. Fuji by his side, it looked as if Yokozuna would be impossible to defeat one on one. But there was still one man who was willing to take on this behemoth, and he was the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be. Bret "The Hitman" Hart, the WWE Champion at the time, defended the title against Royal Rumble winner Yokozuna at WrestleMania 9, and while Bret fought valiantly, it was salt to the eyes from Fuji that gave Yokozuna the win and the Championship...for a few minutes at least. One year later, at WrestleMania 10, both Lex Luger and Bret Hart would get a chance against Yokozuna after both wrestlers had won the Royal Rumble by landing on the floor at the same time. Luger went first, and Yokozuna managed to escape with the title thanks to a little help from referee Mr. Perfect. Meanwhile, Bret had also competed against his brother Owen in the opening match of WrestleMania 10. With both Bret and Yokozuna having already had matches, they were equally exhausted, and as a result, the main event of the biggest show of the year wasn't nearly as great as it had the potential to be. Not even Roddy Piper as guest referee could prevent the train wreck from making its impact. While there were some great matches on the card that would be unforgettable in the years following, Bret Hart versus Yokozuna was certainly not one of those matches.
