WWE: 10 Famous Wrestling Streaks That Had A Botched Ending

7. Mr. Perfect's "Perfect Record" Ended By Brutus Beefcake... After Being Broken By Ultimate Warrior A Week Earlier

Heading into WrestleMania VI, Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake was one of the Top 5 babyfaces in WWF; Mr. Perfect was one of the Top 5- if not the top- heel at the time, boasting of a "perfect" record since he entered WWF a year prior. When Perfect interfered in his partner- The Genius- and Brutus' match at the 1990 Royal Rumble, a match between the two was set for WrestleMania. In the build-up, Beefcake promised to ruin Perfect's perfect record, symbolically cutting his record up with his barber shears in a backstage promo. The problem is, Perfect's record was ruined the week before. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IdltZEFMXHc On the MSG Network, the then-Intercontinental Champion Ultimate Warrior pinned Mr. Perfect for the first time in his WWF career. While it was not uncommon for TV tapings to be aired after major events- meaning "on the record" they didn't happen until much later- opinions differ on if this match aired before or after WrestleMania VI. The fact that Warrior is wearing only the Intercontinental Championship in this match, Gorilla Monsoon talks about the upcoming WrestleMania VI "Title for Title" match-up, and Monsoon announcing that Perfect's pinfall loss to Warrior is his first in his WWF career... kind of spoils Brutus' victory in Toronto on April 1, 1990.
