Long before the more famous pro wrestler born again redemption of Shawn Michaels, Sting fully embraced God and set about being a missionary for the church in 1998. Part of the reason he didn't sign with Vince McMahon in 2001 was down to his faith, Borden preferring to spend time with God and preach his story throughout the church scene. "I wanted God to wave a magic wand and make everything better, but my life just continued on the way it was and things got worse and worse," Borden states. It wasn't until August 1998 when he broke down to his wife and fully confessed his problems that he truly noticed an overnight change. The Icon had been born again.
