WWE: 10 Fascinating Backstage Facts About The Undertaker

4. Weight Problems

Undertaker will forever be remembered as a brilliant big man worker, but he hasn't always been in such great shape. The American Badass character that debuted in 2000 also coincided with the gaining of additional weight for The Undertaker. To be quite frank, he was fat. Reverting to his natural ginger hair colour and donning a wifebeater vest, Taker looked more like a trailer park redneck than a fearsome wrestler. He had a beer belly. His ring work slowed down and was significantly poorer than we were used to. The majority of independent wrestling writers started to write him off. Whether it was too much of the good life or issues related to injury, the state of The Undertaker was getting people talking. The beer belly was embarrassing. As 2001 rolled around though, we started to see a change. Taker reignited his career with a fantastic brawl against Triple H at Wrestlemania 17, his ring shape improving all the time. By the time 2003 rolled around he was back in lean shape and among the very elite workers in the company. It stayed that way pretty much forever since. This is one of the best wrestlers in the world.
