There hasn't been an annual Money in the Bank match at WrestleMania in four years. It's still a shame that the company took something that was clearly working, and becoming a great staple of the show and decided to move it to it's own event. With themed pay-per-views like Tables, Ladders, and Chairs and Hell in a Cell, adding Money in the Bank was complete overkill. It should have stayed at it's WrestleMania home, where it was given birth by Chris Jericho. To put things in perspective, the past couple WrestleManias have done over one million buys each year. Money in the Bank has drawn under 200,000 buys the past two years. Money in the Bank has been a great way to effectively insert underutilized and overlooked talent into a big match at past Manias. It was an exciting crowd-pleaser that always had the potential to be the highlight of the show. Mid-card talent like Shelton Benjamin and CM Punk (at the time) were given their moment to shine in the match, and they created their own WrestleMania moment. But this year's idea for a giant mid-card match is just to insert even more people on the ring in a battle royal. It's doubtful that many potential customers are more excited for the latter.
As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at."
Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week.
