By the time 2010's Extreme Rules rolled around, Sheamus was fresh off a disappointing loss to Triple H at WrestleMania XXVI and desperate to not only get his win back but also end the King of Kings' career. With a Street Fight booked for the show, the Celtic Warrior had the opportunity he was looking for to accomplish his goals. To the shock of many, he would get a jump start on doing so much earlier than anyone could have expected. Sheamus assaulted Triple H as the show went on the air, leaving many to wonder whether or not the former WWE champion would be able to compete later in the night. Never one to back down from a fight regardless of how hurt he may be, Triple H headed to the ring for the match and endured more punishment and suffering at the hands of his younger, more determined opponent. The Celtic Warrior flattened his opponent with several Brogue Kicks and picked up, arguably, the biggest win of his career to that point. The win positioned Sheamus perfectly for what would be another run with the WWE title, which would begin two months after his brutal assault of Triple H. As for The Game? He would remain off of television for the rest of the year, returning just in time the following February to set up a WrestleMania feud with The Undertaker.
