WWE: 10 Greatest Hell in a Cell Matches

10. Kurt Angle vs. Triple H vs. The Rock vs. Steve Austin vs. The Undertaker vs. Rikishi - WWF Championship

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4J_CK3h2TA When: Armageddon 2000 Where: Birmingham, Alabama Our countdown begins with the only match to feature six competitors. Seemingly the precursor to the Elimination Chamber, the match took six of the top superstars at the time and threw them all together into one hellacious main event. It is perhaps no surprise that the match was (kayfabe) orchestrated by the then Commissioner, Mick Foley. Deeming certain actions as going too far; the running down of Stone Cold and Triple H plunging from a fork lift truck to name but two, Foley sought to end it all at Armageddon in this unprecedented match. Fitting perhaps, that Carl Orff's O, Fortuna was used in the promotional video beforehand. Despite Vince McMahon's protests and Kurt Angle's whining of injustice, the bout was to go ahead. The best way to describe the match is simply mayhem. The initial brawling was between the pairs that feuded at the previous PPV and with essentially three singles matches happening simultaneously, it was near impossible to keep up with the action. Before too long, Vince McMahon arrived on a flatbed truck and threatened to tear the entire cell down. He would've succeeded too if it had not been for the emergence of Commissioner Foley and his security. But McMahon's damage had been done; the cell door had been torn off and an escape was possible. From here, the intensity increased with brawling all the way up the ramp and even on the scrap cars forming the staging area. The trails of blood, sweat and tears could be found in abundance all over the arena. And then they climbed. Of the six, only The Rock remained grounded. Triple H and Angle both found themselves in precarious positions, but it was Rikishi who ultimately perished by the hands of an Undertaker chokeslam. The 420-pounder crashed down into the truck with wood shavings scattering everywhere, much to the euphoria of the crowd. Not the most extreme stunt on this list, but this is a superheavyweight human being we are talking about. The ending itself came as a surprise and, after all that had preceded it, somewhat of an anti-climax with Angle seizing the opportunity to cover The Rock after a stunner. Against all the odds, Kurt Angle had survived.
