WWE: 10 Greatest Ring Technicians Of All Time

1. Bret Hart

bret hart Bret Hart is known as €˜The best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be.€™ Believe the hype. The Hitman started off in the big league as part of The Hart Foundation, tagging with brother in law Jim The Anvil Neidhart (father of current WWE Diva Natalya). As the smaller man of the duo it was easy to dismiss Bret€™s future prospects in the era where beasts such as Hogan, Warrior and Demolition roamed the World Wrestling Federation. Fortunately for the Hitman, the age in which the dinosaurs ruled the earth would end and a smaller species would rise up and take the spotlight. His matches with Mr Perfect, Roddy Piper and Davey Boy Smith showed the world that Hart was the most technically able man on the roster and someone Vince could put at the forefront of his company. Whilst Hulk Hogan had been the super hero who fought all battles for the good of the United States of America, the Canadian born Hart was all about respect. Bret went from strength to strength and was the top star in the WWF from 1992 to 1997, and during that time had more classic bouts against the likes of HBK, Stone Cold Steve Austin and his brother Owen. Hart has proudly proclaimed on several occasions that he never injured anyone in the ring, and this was a prime example of why he earned the name €˜The Excellence of execution€™. He really did execute his moves more expertly and convincingly then the majority of his rivals. Look at the people over the years who have used the Sharpshooter in their arsenal. The Rock€™s version is laughable as he fails to apply any pressure on his opponents backs, and Stone Cold€™s looks like it€™s not really his move. Even Owen Hart€™s version where he crossed his legs the opposite way to Bret€™s always looked inferior. Few have come close to The Hitmans, with perhaps the only exception being Sting€™s Scorpion Death lock. Unfortunately as mentioned earlier Hart was forced into early retirement following a concussion in a match with Bill Goldberg. Hart, who was WCW Champion at the time continued to wrestler for more than a week before finally calling it a day. Bret would get one final run in the ring, coming more than a decade later when he€™d have what was quite possibly the worst display of wrestling at a Wrestlmania when he took on Mr McMahon. His brief US championship win and Summerslam 2010 tag match were some redemption for the poor Mania match, and who knows , there still may be enough fuel in the Hitman for one last appearance in the ring yet.
