WWE: 10 Hollywood Actors Who Actually Wrestled

10. Alex Karras

Mongo There really wasn't a lot Alex Karras couldn't do. He was drafted 10th overall by the Detroit Lions, starred as Mr. Papadapolis for six seasons in Webster, and is also one of the best parts of Botchamania thanks to his role as Mongo in Blazing Saddles. Karras began wrestling during the offseason of his rookie year and didn't have as long a wrestling career as he did being Webster's adopted dad, but he still made quite an impact in professional wrestling thanks to a good ol' fashioned worked-shoot. Us News Obit Karras 2 De As the story went, Karras got into a bar brawl with the legendary tough guy, and former Green Bay Packers lineman, Dick the Bruiser. The two had such a heated barroom brawl that the only possible way to settle it was in the squared circle. In reality, Karras had been suspended from football for good ol' fashioned gambling and figured having a hot program with an all time great would be a good way to kill some time until he was reinstated. The match drew very well and by all accounts was a delightfully bloody and violent brawl that was ahead of its time enough to have been right at home in a sweatbox Philadelphia bingo hall in the mid 90s.

Gavin Bard was an American poet, novelist and short story writer. His writing was influenced by the social, cultural, and economic ambiance of his home city of Los Angeles. His work addresses the ordinary lives of poor Americans, the act of writing, alcohol, relationships with women, and the drudgery of work. In 1986 Time called Bard a "laureate of American lowlife". Wait, crap, hold on a second. That is Bukowski. Sorry. Gavin plays too many video games, thinks pro wrestling is the world's best performance art, and considers Hunter S. Thompson a better journalistic influence than Edward R. Murrow.
