WWE: 10 Hollywood Actors Who Actually Wrestled

Some unbelievably even became World Champions...

Wrestling is a complicated sport. To really end up on top, a performer needs to find a perfect balance between being an athlete, a stuntman, and an actor. This is an incredibly complicated balance to strike, which is why so many workers seem to be a lot of one and not much of the others. This intense specialization is also why the amount of dual-sports stars have waned quite a bit since the early days when football players routinely made appearances in the squared circle. Being a big guy with a lot of muscles isn't a guarantee any longer, even if certain wrestling promoters that will remain nameless haven't figured that out yet. One thing that has always been rare in professional wrestling, even rarer than a dual-sports superstar, are actors who also plied their craft under the bright lights in the ring as well as the bright lights of Hollywood. That isn't to say there haven't been any though. Hollywood and professional wrestling are two industries that thrive on producing bigger than life stars, and it is only natural that some people are drawn to the ring and the stage. While success in both realms is difficult and hard to come by, a fair amount of actors have stumbled and bodyslammed their way into it - or at least appeared in a movie and a match you would recognize. Let's not be too picky here.

Gavin Bard was an American poet, novelist and short story writer. His writing was influenced by the social, cultural, and economic ambiance of his home city of Los Angeles. His work addresses the ordinary lives of poor Americans, the act of writing, alcohol, relationships with women, and the drudgery of work. In 1986 Time called Bard a "laureate of American lowlife". Wait, crap, hold on a second. That is Bukowski. Sorry. Gavin plays too many video games, thinks pro wrestling is the world's best performance art, and considers Hunter S. Thompson a better journalistic influence than Edward R. Murrow.
