WWE: 10 Hottest Free Agents In Wrestling Today

9. Zach Gowen/Gregory Iron

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nJu2YmawAY Some of you may only be aware of Zach Gowen from his run in WWE in 2003/4 where he feuded with Mr. McMahon. A few of you may know Gregory Iron from receiving high praise from CM Punk in the weeks after Punk left WWE in 2011. What many of you may not know is that they both have disabilities. Zach lost his left leg to cancer at the age of 8. He trained to become a wrestler and after appearing in TNA briefly in 2003, received a deal with WWE. On his own admission it came too him at too young an age and he couldn't handle it. Despite aligning himself with Hulk Hogan and feuding with Vince McMahon, and subsequently Matt Hardy, it was too much too soon and eventually he wound up receiving treatment for drug and alcohol use. Gregory has cerebral palsy and has pretty much no use of his right arm. When I interviewed him in August 2011 he described how it affected things like tying his shoes when he was a child through to the way he carries a laundry basket as an adult. He said "Like anything else, when you have any disability or some sort of setback you just find ways to work around it and do the best you can with it." How could this tag team not be the success story of any promotion? They team together on the indies as 'The Handicapped Heroes'. From a purely good publicity point of view I am surprised that either TNA or WWE haven't signed them up. They are both very capable wrestlers in their own right; as a team, their value only increases. It's now or never for them to get a chance in the majors. I hope it's the former.
