WWE: 10 Incredible Money In The Bank Ladder Match Spots

2. Shelton Benjamin€™s Ladder Run (2005)

This one is here for historical purposes more than anything else; it€™s the moment that really brought attention to the Money in the Bank match itself. This was the very first one, and when it took place at WrestleMania 21, it was a brand new idea from the mind of Chris Jericho that had never been seen before, and so of course nobody knew what to expect. It was treated much like a regular ladder match for the most part, but there were, on more than one occasions, moments that had the crowd pop. But none of these moments were able to stick out quite like the one moment that made Shelton Benjamin a human highlight reel. As one ladder was leaning up against another, and Chris Jericho attempted to reach the contract by climbing to the top, Benjamin thought quickly and ran up the leaning ladder in order to clotheslines Jericho off. It was such a spectacular moment that nobody saw coming, and it made people realize the potential that future Money in the Bank ladder matches would have. Heck, the spot was even injected into future WWE video games much to the delight of both gamers and wrestling fans.
