WWE: 10 Most Inventive Big Match Match Finishes Ever

9. John Cena vs. Umaga - Umaga Gets Choked Out Via Ring Rope

The Event: Royal Rumble 2007 The Finish: It may be hard to remember because it was over a half decade ago, but Umaga was a monster. He was pushed to the moon like an actually interesting Ryback, and had a series of impactful devastating moves that popped the crowd and made the man look like a true bulldozer. When it came time for the unstoppable force that was Umaga to wrestle the immovable object that was John Cena's winning ways, the outcome of the match was actually up in the air. Was the WWE Behind Umaga as a true main event star? No. In a brutal last man standing contest that resulted in the Royal Rumble Venue resembling a war-zone, we saw Cena and Umaga pull out all the stops to have a brutal, fun, entertaining, and inventive Last Man Standing Match. As the match approached it's conclusion, Cena made use of a ripped-off ring rope, doing that the thing that got Daniel Bryan fired that one time, proceeding to choke the ever loving life out of Umaga with the ring rope he ripped from the turnbuckle via a modified STFU, and wins the match. The Impact: This match and ending was inventive for a couple of reasons. We witnessed a side of Cena we hadn't seen before, and more importantly this is where his reputation for being a truly good worker got his start, pulling a wickedly creative and inventive and fun match from the guy who used to be in a tag team that sounded like a procedural call in a Soccer game - Three Minute Warning. While Umaga unfortunately passed away, the legacy of this match, his brutal offense, and the really fun finish lives on via the WWE Network, and in the minds and hearts of fans who remember that while he seemed to start as a cheap Samoa Joe knock-off, he got the best, and gave the best, from the WWE's golden boy John Cena, and delivered a match more entertaining than anyone thought it could possibly be.
