WWE: 10 Most Inventive Big Match Match Finishes Ever
8. Kurt Angle vs. Brock Lesnar - Shooting Star PLEASE GOD DON'T BE DEAD
Event: Wrestlemania IX The Finish: It was a poorly kept secret that Brock Lesnar could throw a Shooting Star Press when he was in developmental, and the very idea of someone the size of Lesnar doing that particular movie yielded full-body goosebumps. Flash forward to the Main Event of a Wrestlemania IX where Kurt Angle was wrestling on a neck stitched together with chicken wire and duct-tape. Kurt's out in the middle of the mat, and Brock looks toward the turnbuckle. Everyone knows what's coming. He ascends the top rope and....oops. The Impact: File this under "It was a good idea at the time". Had Brock landed the Shooting Star Press it would have been on highlight reels for decades. The flash bulbs, the growing buzz of the crowd, the fact Brock Lesnar was the WWE's chosen one - ideally for years to come, all pointed to this match, this moment, this top rope front flip, being a Wrestlemania moment for the ages. Instead, in a year's time Brock would be wrestling Goldberg in a bizarre match, and be on his way out of the company only to return with NFL experience and a UFC World Title reign on his resume. Safe to say he would not be jumping off any more top ropes. Ultimately Brock's botched shooting star press was representative of an inventive idea that ended poorly, but is still etched in the minds of fans worldwide, though perhaps for the wrong reasons.
