WWE: 10 Most Irritating Wrestling Catchphrases Ever
9. Destiny
To be fair, it's not like Alberto Del Rio was the first wrestler to say something like winning a World Title was his "destiny" during a promo. Far from it, actually. What set Del Rio's usage of the word apart was that it seemed like it was the only word he knew. In every single promo he cut, this was his destiny, and that was his destiny, and beating this guy was his destiny, and winning that title was his destiny. It got so played out, so quickly, and it made people stop caring about him at all. At one point, it was pretty clear that the company had big things planned for him, with weeks and weeks of vignettes airing before his debut, and an immediate push upon his arrival. Then... he started cutting those "destiny" promos, and the train came completely off the tracks, and his career hasn't really been the same ever since. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4AzT61v91Xs Not since Hulk Hogan and "brother" have wrestling fans seen one wrestler rely on a single word so much in all of their promos.
