WWE: 10 Most Jaw-Droppingly Stupid Future Endeavours

9. Matt Morgan

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqg4E0zEqpA When Matt Morgan debuted on SmackDown! in 2003 and was immediately paired with fellow monsters Brock Lesnar and Nathan Jones, fans immediately took notice. After being forced to give up his spot as a contestant on season two of Tough Enough due to an injury, Morgan rebounded by signing a developmental deal in 2002. He reported to Ohio Valley Wrestling and spent a year there before being called up to the main roster. Following a brief run and an injury, Morgan was sent back to OVW for additional training and experience. When he returned to SmackDown! in 2005 he unveiled a stuttering gimmick that left him dead right out of the gate. Why WWE thought fans wanted to see a 7'0" athletic beast stutter instead of annihilate opponents is beyond me. Unsurprisingly Morgan failed to get over and was released just a few months later. He followed his release with stints in Japan and most prominently TNA, where he proved that if booked properly and allowed to do what he does best he can excel. WWE creative saddled him with a ridiculous gimmick that had no chance of success and blamed him for it when it went nowhere. The Blueprint is a guy they could have had as a solid building block of the company. Matt Morgan replacing Roman Reigns in The Shield after the inevitable Reigns departure would have been a great spot for him. He was probably never going to be a megastar, but there was a lot of untapped potential wasted.
