WWE: 10 Most Memorable Piper's Pit Moments

8. The Hillbilly Jim Saga

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HysfkyU2-RY The Hillbilly Jim saga on Piper's Pit actually took place over a few episodes of the show. Jim first appeared as a fan, dressed in his signature redneck dungarees, sitting in the front row of WWF events at the time. It was obvious to everyone that he was in actual fact a wrestler and it was only a matter of time before Jim expressed an interest in becoming one. Due to injuries sustained during his last run with the NWA, Piper was acting as a manager in order to heal up before returning to the ring and had already taken Bob Orton under his wing. Now, he set his sights on the potential new redneck superstar and invited him from the audience onto an episode of Piper's Pit where he offered his managerial services to Big Jim. It was obvious to everyone that Piper was clearly trying to manipulate him into becoming a lackey, mentioning that he'd be giving him little money and belittling him by making him remove his hat on set. Having become popular with the fans due to his humble nature, Jim was reluctant to side with the evil Piper and told him he needed to go think about it. Soon after, Piper invited him back on the show, demanding an answer from him. The Hillbilly let Roddy know that he would indeed be going under new management and decided to go with the best. Unfortunately this meant he had decided to go against Roddy's wishes and train with Hogan instead. Before things could get ugly, Hogan himself stormed onto the set and reiterated the news to Piper before clearing off with Jim. Over the next few weeks, Hogan and Jim appeared in training montage videos where Hogan taught Jim how to wrestle and presented him with his first pair of boots. Piper however never forgot and his hatred for the Hillbilly clan was always lurking in the background. Piper would later get involved in Uncle Elmer's wedding on an episode of Saturday Night's Main Event, resulting in a short feud that pitted Piper and Jesse Ventura against Jim and his extended family, including on later installments of Piper's Pit.
