WWE: 10 Most Show Stealing Chris Jericho Performances

2. Jericho vs. Shawn Michaels (WrestleMania XIX)

The main event of WrestleMania XIX may have been Kurt Angle vs. Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship and Hulk Hogan vs. Vince McMahon may have been the most hyped bout on the card but it was Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels that stole the show. Jericho immortalized himself with a tremendous performance on the biggest stage known to professional wrestling. That he hung in there, going toe-to-toe with the very best performer in WrestleMania only made it that much more special. Michaels was still finding his way back into the swing of things as a full-time performer. His history of back injuries was still very much a concern as he stepped inside SafeCo Field for his match with Jericho but one would never be able to tell. From the minute the bell rang, he and Jericho put together a masterpiece of drama and pure wrestling. Y2J naturally targeted the back of his opponent while Michaels was forced to prove his guts and determination to win. Jericho mocked his opponent, using his own Sweet Chin Music superkick against him and nearly scoring the win off of it. Michaels, showcasing his greatness, caught his rival with a rollup and picked up his first WrestleMania victory in seven years. Jericho, ever the great and opportunistic heel, feigned a sportsmanlike hug, only to drop his childhood hero with a low blow. Commentators Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler denounced the vile and deplorable actions of the brash Superstar, something that enhanced the moment. Even in a loss, Jericho proved his worth as a performance for as great as Michaels was, it was Jericho who had the wrestling world buzzing in the days after the Showcase of the Immortals.
