7. Shawn Michaels
Shawn Michaels gear was always destined to do well, simply because he's one of the greatest of all time. So maybe that's why the WWE seem to never put in any effort with his merchandise. Or maybe it's the fact that he's almost 50 years old and still refers to himself as the "Heart Break Kid." In the 90s his t-shirts were so bad because they mostly featured ridiculous pictures of him wearing his trademark outfit of tassels, chaps and heart shaped glasses all while sporting a mullet that would have made Billy Ray Cyrus proud. Thankfully for Shawn Michaels fans, when DX came around, Shawn's merchandise got injected with a bit of attitude, and they could support their hero with a modicum of pride.
That is until he returned from his supposedly career ending back injury with a new outlook on life. Gone was the brash, cocky Shawn Michaels of old, and he was replaced with a new enlightened, god fearing Shawn Michaels who had to inject a bit of his faith into everything from his ring entrance to his merchandise. Although Shawn had always been favourable of designs featuring hearts and crosses, now he was including all sorts of religious sounding slogans to go with them, turning his t-shirts into something you'd see at a church jumble sale. I have one that says on the back, "He who is strong conquers others. He who is mighty conquers himself." When I wear it in the street, people lock doors and turn off the lights in case I'm a door-to-door religious nut. "All Things Are Possible." Really Shawn? Then how about you release a t-shirt that doesn't make me look like I'm trying to convert people. Is that possible? Others say, "Faith is a Refusal to Panic," "What One sacrifices is never lost." They aren't so much t-shirts as they are sermons. I think I preferred the mullet shirts.
