WWE: 10 Paige Moments From Before Her Debut You Need To See

10. Britani Knight vs. Sweet Saraya - WAW

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6soxkqDJr0 In a match contested early in her career, Paige (known as Britani Knight) squared off with her mother, Sweet Saraya, in a two-of-three falls match for the WAW British Ladies Championship. The match was the culmination of a heel turn by Knight that saw her betray her mentor and mom. The commentary team repeatedly references a "blood feud between mother and daughter" and "a family tragedy." Mother and daughter competed over the course of four rounds and three falls to prove that they were superior to their immediate family member. Knowing so much about one another, they were able to sidestep and counter one another's key offense. The first fall went to Knight following a fisherman suplex while Saraya scored fall number two following a sit-out powerbomb. With the things knotted up at one fall apiece, desperation set in with each woman trying to put the other away in hopes of leaving with the championship and bragging rights in tow. Knight would duck out of the way of a rush into the corner, roll her mother up and score a tainted pinfall victory by using the ropes for added leverage. It was exactly the type of win one would expect from a villainous, disrespectful young woman over the mother that raised her and taught her everything she knew. It would not be the last time mother and daughter competed against one another. In fact, the match would spill over into the United States and become one of the most heated rivalries in all-woman promotion SHIMMER. That program would go a long way in helping the young British competitor gain traction with the American audience.
