From @andyclemo: Are Paige and AJ enough to rebuild the divas division?
It's always been a booking thing. People didn't complain about the divas that much when the division was strong from about 2002 to 2008. The reason for that is because the women were given a decent length of time for their television matches and PPV matches were built up pretty well. In the last few years, matches on TV have been cut down significantly while the roster has suffered a hit from losing some of the better in-ring performers they had. Paige is definitely a bright spot because she's a young, hard working woman with fans that like her. AJ Lee has basically been the same character for about two years now and having her go away for a month or two isn't bad thing at all. She's still in her 20s, so she can have a great career as long as she continues to improve. What I see when I watch NXT are a bunch of hard working women who really want to be successful. There's a competition between them too. They all want to be that next one to be called up just like Paige and Emma have been called up recently. There will always be talented women on WWE's roster. In addition to Paige and AJ Lee, others like Natalya, Emma, Tamina and Alicia Fox are very good too. It's just a matter of WWE caring enough to put these women in feuds that fans care about. There have been some good early reigns with Paige's reign so far, but we'll see how it goes in the long run.
