WWE: 10 Reasons Hulk Hogan Should Be Celebrated At Wrestlemania 30

9. The Entrance Music

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLtVoj9QlCY Let€™s make no bones about this, The Rock €˜n€™ Wrestling connection started with Hogan. The links to €˜Rocky III€™ could still be felt as Clubber Lang himself, Mr T, was now Hogan€™s friend and partner (creating more mainstream media coverage). On their entrance to the ring at the very first WrestleMania, their theme tune was...€™The Eye of the Tiger€™. Boxers had long utilised music on their entrances and although it wasn€™t unheard of for wrestlers, when Survivor belted out at Madison Square Garden, the crowd went wild. We€™re not saying Hogan invented the entrance song but he did make it an exciting staple of any live event. The second you hear the song of a returning favourite, you cheer, same when an evil heel makes an appearance. Hogan€™s had many themes over the years including, bizarrely, €˜Voodoo Child€™ during the Hollywood Hogan years (air guitar et al) but the one that€™s stuck is €˜Real American€™. Composed by Rick Derringer (who also worked with Steely Dan) it is a great tune. Intensely patriotic, yes, but a great tune nonetheless. Simply put, if Hogan returns and this theme begins to play, the crowd will be louder than at any other time of the night.
