The question has to be asked, just what was McMahon doing at ringside that night in the first place? Did Bret not find that a bit odd? It is the equivalent of Raw producer Kevin Dunn coming down to stand at ringside at a PPV event today, it would just be very, very unusual and an obvious story point. McMahon often did commentary and interviews back in these days, and it was increasingly known that he was in fact the owner of the WWF. There was no explanation however as to why he would be out there at ringside that night. Bret if he had any brains would surely be suspicious that something was up here. You can also say the same for the whole sharpshooter spot, if this was a screwjob surely Bret would have smelled a rat given the differences from the usual run of the mill main event matches.
