3. Discussion Shows

The Network launch is WWE's big chance to re-engage its audience on an intelligent and mature level. A new discussion show, in a 9pm slot perhaps, is a great potential idea. It could be presented by Jim Ross, with a regular panel and weekly guests from Raw and Smackdown. As a straight shoot it could become a key reason for smart fans to subscribe to the network. WWE is kind of already doing this with the panel segments at PPV's, but these worked angles often end up being lamentable. A legitimate discussion of the business would be absolutely fascinating. In addition to this, WWE could give superstars their own specific broadcast. Anyone who has ever listened to the Steve Austin Podcast know it is an absolute riot. Why not give someone like CM Punk a studio and a live mic, let him do what he does best and talk away. Right now WWE has so many superstars giving opinions away for free on twitter, why not get these people on a televised broadcast and have people pay for these insights? The real thing I want to see though is a shoot discussion show. There is no reason that WWE can't engage its PG audience through the day and its smart audience on the evening. As an older wrestling fan I want to be taken seriously and not have my intelligence insulted. A shoot WWE talk show is the only new content that the Network can offer that would probably get me tuning in to the channel.
