10. Debuting On NXT As Skip Sheffield
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaUgvHaXVic Before debuting on the main roster as Ryback, he went by his real name Ryan Reeves along with his nickname Silverback on the 2004 edition of Tough Enough. But he got his big break on the first season of NXT where he competed as fun-loving Skip Sheffield. His cowboy-style gimmick seemed like it could work at first but for a man of his style and look at times it felt like he was making a fool of himself. On one side it is a good thing that he was open to work as any character to make his dream of working in the WWE come true, but as Skip Sheffield his character was never going to make as big of an impact as he has managed to do so as Ryback. If the WWE continued with the Skip Sheffield gimmick on the main roster past the Nexus storyline, it was clear that he would never reach the heights he has already managed to reach. Realistically the WWE should have started off with the Ryback gimmick. He could have competed as Ryback on NXT and go on to dominate the competition, or at least last until the final few and not get eliminated in the early stages like he did. If he did compete as Ryback then we as fans would remember him as that and not as the failed gimmick that was Skip Sheffield. He has the right to be frustrated, this gimmick was a fail and did not start his WWE career off in the right direction. I don't know if it is just me, but I prefer the catchphrase 'Finish It!' to 'Yep, Yep Yep! What It Do?'.
