WWE: 10 Reasons Ryback Is Right To Be Frustrated

8. His Big Name Feuds Failed To Advance

Ryback played a key role in two debuts in the WWE, well technically four as he was involved in a match with CM Punk where The SHIELD made their debut in the WWE and hit him with a triple powerbomb. Ryback was also in a match where we first saw the arrival of Brad Maddox, disguised as a referee in the match. Let's start with CM Punk, in the middle of his legendary reign as WWE Champion he was given the task of trying to defend his strap against Ryback, something which was made to look impossible. The build-up to their matches were average and the matches were of a decent standard. But the way the feud culminated was not that great, it seemed as if the feud just came to a sudden halt once The SHIELD made their debut. Ryback and Punk needed to go at it at least once more which would have helped both men, Ryback could solidify his status in the main event scene and Punk would continue his reign as WWE Champion. Nothing of that sort happened, and this feud which played a key role in Ryback's career just ended suddenly without any legitimate finish; he needed to look like a champion. Once that feud with CM Punk suddenly came to a standstill, he then moved on to The SHIELD who targeted the human wrecking ball. This was very interesting for the WWE Universe as this was the first we saw of The SHIELD on the main roster, and they dominated Ryback. I am not saying Ryback should have defeated The SHIELD, far from it. In fact I believe The SHIELD should have beaten Ryback down some more, the only issue I had with this feud was that it did not really lead anywhere. The SHIELD attacked Ryback and they fought for a while and just like the CM Punk rivalry, Ryback did not really achieve anything to further advance him as a WWE superstar. This rivalry only helped The SHIELD grow which obviously a massive positive, but Ryback was the one made to suffer.
