5. The Heel Turn
The big one in the list, the infamous heel turn which ultimately turned out to be the pivotal downfall for Ryback's career, this heel turn basically ruined his career and he is not entirely at fault. As a face Ryback was on top of the world, he was in some big name feuds within a couple of months of making his debut. He picked up victory after victory, albeit against weaker opposition but he was slowly building himself up to be one of the toughest guys on the roster and he was well on his way to becoming a top tier superstar. He fought for the WWE Championship on numerous occasions, he was made to look like a genuine threat to the championship for a little while and that is exactly what we had hoped Ryback would achieve. He was involved when Brad Maddox and The SHIELD arrived, the fans loved him and provided him with an immense reaction. Obviously at a certain point he was bound to turn heel, and there is nothing wrong with the way he turned heel but the mistake the WWE made was how they handled him after his heel turn. Apart from John Cena there was no relevant feud, the John Cena feud itself was nothing special as it was blatantly obvious who was going to walk out the victor from this rivalry. This helped Ryback in no way. Ryback had a lot more opportunities as a face than he has had as a heel and now he is paying for it by being seen as the bottom of the barrel. The WWE missed out on a great opportunity when Ryback was a face, his career has suffered in a major way and his heel turn plays a huge part in this.
